This all got started almost 4 years ago when I started sharing a weekly tip or strategy I use in SEO campaigns for the clients I work with.
I remember in the first 20 or so thinking to myself, “How was I going to keep this going? What did I get myself into.”
I thought for sure I would run out of ideas to share here long before this and have to shift to a different format of some kind.
And yet here we are at Note #200.
I decided to share my favorite notes over the first 200. I’m sharing these in the order they were published. Here is part 1.
Favorite notes 1-8:
- Link placement matters – one of the first notes I shared, inspired by a question from the second note I ever shared.
- Can artificial intelligence write content for you – Note #22. hard to believe this was over 3 years ago, and almost a year and a half before the launch of ChatGPT. Some foreshadowing of what was to come maybe…
- Creating a market with SEO – One of my all time favorite notes. The company in question no longer exists, but it’s a great example of using SEO to target a market that doesn’t know you exist.
- Reasons why you should use categories and subcategories in your URLs – A hotly debated topic in SEO, and I think this note puts that debate to rest.
- How to capture featured snippets – My tips on how to snag those featured snippets in the SERPs from your competitors.
- Brand hijacking – One of my favorite tactics to use when working with smaller, lesser known brands.
- When you should (and should not) use noindex tags – There are very few cases where I recommend using a noindex tag.
- How the New York Times uses HTML sitemaps – No article ever published by the New York Times going back to 1851 is more than 5 clicks from the home page. How do they do it? Check this out.
