All of that being said, it’s a good idea to stay on top of the impact of AI Overviews in your search market.
Thankfully, Semrush recently launched the ability to do so.
If you go to Organic Research >> Positions you can see in which SERPs for your domain or a competitor AI Overviews are being triggered.
Under the SERP Features dropdown box you have a few options you can use:
SERP Features on SERP
Under here you can filter by any SERP feature you want, including AI Overviews.
This can give you a quick idea of how prominent AI Overviews are in your market.
In this example, you can see that out of over 358,000 keywords Semrush is tracking that ClickUp shows up for, AI Overviews appear in a little less than 11,000 of them
You can also get an idea of how much more prominent Featured Snippets are versus AIOs.
Not on SERP
Here you can see the SERPs that do not have a particular SERP feature, including AI Overviews.
Domain ranks
With this filter you can see in which SERPS an AI Overview is being triggered and ClickUp is being linked to from that AI Overview.
For example, for the term cross functional team, you can see that an AI Overview is being triggered and that ClickUp is being linked to as a reference.
Domain doesn’t rank
This is perhaps the most interesting one.
With this one you can sort by AI Overview and Semrush will give you a list of search terms where ClickUp does rank, but does not show up in the AI Overviews.
Similar to what many of us have done for years with Featured Snippets, you can use these terms to gather ideas about what the sites included in the AI Overviews have in common in their content.
