Using Reddit for Keyword Research and Generating Topic Ideas

Reddit is a hugely popular site. Some subreddits have active communities the size of a small city.

Its popularity means it can be a great source of information for you.

This is a little trick I have been using Reddit for to generate both keyword ideas as well as topic ideas to write about.

What you need to do first is find a popular subreddit in your niche or a closely related niche.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be as popular as this Homebrewing subreddit, but if the subreddit is too small or not very active, it’s not going to be as useful.

Now you are going to do a simple combination of searches to find potential keywords and topic ideas.

site:https://www.reddit.com/r/Homebrewing/ “what is”

Now take the “what is” part and you can sub in other options like:

  • How to
  • Can I
  • Best way to
  • Top way to
  • Is there a way to
  • How do I
  • How do you
  • Is it possible to

You can easily come up with your own to add to the list, and you can also use more than one subreddit.

Remember, if people are asking these questions in subreddits, they are probably also asking them in Google.

You can extract these URLs by hand, or use SEO Minion to make it easy.
